Choice Based Credit System ( CBCS)
The Programme is said to be Choice Based because the student shall opt the combination of his choice in soft core paper, core and school subject related elective paper and open self study paper. 1 hour of lecture (class) per week per paper amounts to 1 credit per semester. 2 hours of tutorial / activities / practical component per week per paper amounts to 1 credit per semester.

Courses of study( CBCS)
A student, who registers for B.Ed. degree Programme RIMSE CBCS scheme, shall study four hard core papers, two RIMSE special hard core papers, four soft core papers, two elective papers or one elective paper and one term work. He shall expose to three teaching competency skill practice components of core papers. He shall also study two papers in concurrent Add on Graduate Diploma in Values Education. He shall study all these papers in two semesters in normal pace and in 4 semesters in slow pace.

Guidelines

a) Details of Courses:

  1. A paper to be compulsorily studied by a student as a Programme requirement to complete a degree is called a core paper.
  2. RIMSE is the special institution offering MSE from the past 35 years. Therefore it provides two special core papers for students. These are called RIMSE Special Hard Core Papers (RSHCP).
  3. As a Programme requirement, four core papers are proposed. They are called Hard Core Papers (HCP).
  4. RIMSE provides an option for the student to choose two papers from a pool of papers from school related disciplines. These are called Soft Core Papers (SCP).
  5. RIMSE provides another option to student to choose a paper in One semester from a pool of papers which may be very specific or specialized or advanced or supportive to the disciplines of study. It is called Elective Paper (EP).
  6. As Programme requirement practical work and activities (Micro teaching, lesson plan, lesson observation, practice teaching, unit test, unit plan, test materials, teaching aids, diagnostic tests, criticism lesson, seminar etc.) of the courses of study are included under Teaching Competency-Skill Practice (TC-SP). This is treated as practical component.
  7. A special paper where student carries out the application of knowledge in creativity, a mini project work is proposed by RIMSE. It is called Term Work (TW). It may be given as an option for students in lieu of EP in one semester
  8. One more choice is given to students to opt for Open Self Study Paper (OSSP). This is optional.

Post B.Ed. Add On - Graduate Diploma Course (PAGD) in Content Cum Methodology (CCM) of School subjects 10 credits.
A student who opts for this course shall fulfill all the requirements of regular students with regard to continuous assessment except attending classes in RIMSE throughout the semester(s).The student shall complete TC-SP in the place of his work and submit duly signed records. He shall be present in the campus for minimum of two weeks spread over over in a semester or in two semesters in RIMSE to complete the course.

Guidelines for post B.Ed. Add On course.
  1. The student must interact with the concerned RIMSE staff for a period of two weeks spread over the semester.
  2. The student shall plan and execute not less than 15 lessons in the chosen subject including criticism lesson in the school. Minimum of 6 lessons including criticism lesson must be fully supervised by the senior teacher in the recognized school.
  3. The student shall plan, prepare and execute the assignment prescribed by RIMSE from time to time. In addition the student shall take up the sessional tests and term-end assessment.

Guidelines for Graduate Diploma in Values Education
  1. The student shall compulsorily attend for the minimum period of 500 hours the practical activities of RIMSE - morning and evening prayers, meditation, yoga, physical exercises, shramadan, special retreat programmes, special lecture classes, assessment and other programmes announced and organized by the institution during the academic year.
  2. Students shall complete and submit reports, assignments etc. regarding activities from time to time.
Add on course
  1. The student shall take concurrent Add on Course facility in RIMSE. i.e. Concurrent Add on Graduate Diploma (CAGD) in Values Education.
  2. The student, passed out of B.Ed. from the recognized University, may opt for Post B.Ed. Add on - Graduate Diploma course (PAGD) offered by RIMSE in school related subjects. This subject has to be other than the one studied during their B.Ed. course.
  3. The student can go with a slow pace of 6 credits per semester or an accelerated pace of 12 credits in one semester to complete post B.Ed. Add on Graduate Diploma course.
  4. Any Graduate or post graduate of any discipline may opt for Add on Graduate Diploma in values education (same as Concurrent Add on Graduate Diploma Course in Values Education) provided the institution can accommodate such student during the academic year.
Options for Students
  1. Each student shall avail a maximum of 4 semesters - 2 years (in one stretch) to complete B.Ed. (RIMSE CBCS 2010-11).
  2. The student may avail a maximum of two blank semesters in one stretch. However, he has to pay a nominal fee for maintaining a semester blank to the Institution.
  3. Each successful student shall complete total of 40 credits in 2 semesters, excluding the credits of Add on facilities, is called a full time candidate.
  4. d) Each student can go with a normal pace of 20 credits per semester. However he has provision to go with a slow pace of 12 credits per semester or an accelerated pace of 26 credits per semester.
  5. The tuition fee and examination fee of a semester will be in accordance with the number of the credit registered by each student in that semester.
  6. If the student takes more than 2 semesters to complete the requirement of 40 credits then he has to pay a nominal extra fee for the credits registered during the spilled over semester(s).
Determinants of drop of course and programme
    Under the following circumstances a student is said to have dropped a course
  1. If he has failed to put in 80% of attendance.
  2. If he decides to discontinue to study the courses.
  3. If he has not secured the minimum prescribed in component i & ii put together. (i.e. 20 out of 50)
  4. based on the cumulative assessment of the student at the end of component ii, if the student is said to have been unsuccessful
  5. If he withdraws a course within a week after the final grades are ratified to improve the performance.
    A student is said to have dropped the programme if he
  1. is unable to successfully complete all courses
  2. is absent for the term-end assessment
  3. earns less than 12 credits per semester

Re-registration
  1. A student shall re-register the dropped course when the courses is offered by the Institute again. If it is an elective (either core related or school subject related) courser, he can opt for alternate elective paper
  2. A candidate is said to have dropped term-work as to re-register subsequently The details of any dropped course will not appear on the grade card.
